Franceska Alvarado (b. 1998) was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in 2022 and is currently an MFA candidate at the University of Notre Dame. She is a multi-disciplinary artist who focuses primarily on painting and drawing. At large, her work examines the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of the human condition, revolving around the artifice of self-portraiture through a surreal lens. Her most recent body of work investigates the intersection between the female form and the corporeal mind, drawing upon visual gothic thematics and biological horror that expose the psychological self, and the secrets it withholds, from behind the veils of the mind.
